COLD FEET AND A BUNCH OF IDEAS – HOW COTRANSLATIONS WAS BORN
By the end of August 2010, we, Clara Bao Rivas and Tania Carril, founders of Cotranslations, met in Karlstad, Sweden, where we studied during a year thanks to the Erasmus Programme. When we finished our university degree in 2013, we began to get serious about founding “something” together. “Something” because we did not want to turn our project into a translation agency where we would simply manage projects; we wanted to translate. After many brainstorming, conversations and arrangements, in August 2015 Cotranslations was born: the name under which we collaborate combining our working languages and fields of expertise.
After seven years working side by side, we can say all the thinking was worth it. Although on the way we discovered new fields we are interested in and topics we did not expect to work on and ended up fascinating us, our philosophy is still the same: four eyes see more than two. For this reason, whenever the projects requires it and the client requests it, we both take part in the process, in order to guarantee that the text does not only benefit from a pair of expert eyes, but another pair takes care of reviewing that first version and providing a new fresher vision in order to achieve high-quality results.
As explained in our our Services section, the domains in which we have more experience are marketing translation and legal-administrative translation. However, during all these years we have collaborated with our clients in projects of different nature as translators, proofreaders and content writers depending on the particular needs of each assignment.
We also have our own network of trusted collaborators for those projects where the word count or deadline make it impossible for us to do it alone.
